Family Support Link is a small charity based in Northamptonshire which provides support for families and friends affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use. It works with anyone 5 years old and over and provide information, guidance, advocacy, specialist 1:1 support, group support, peer support and a telephone support line. It also has two new programmes: one offering support to children and young people together with their family, and the other providing parenting support in complex cases where the parents are using drugs and alcohol. Both programmes develop emotional regulation and transform communication across the family. It also works with many statutory and third sector agencies to build understanding of the impact upon the family of a loved one's substance use.
