Finance Manager
Finance Manager
Starting Salary: Level 3 £40,000 p.a (pro rata) + excellent benefits
Contract type: Part-time (2-3 days per week, flexible), permanent
Location: Hybrid
This is a pivotal role for a technically strong, proactive and detail-focused finance professional who thrives in a small, mission-driven organisation. You will ensure excellent financial management, robust controls and high-quality reporting during a transformational period for Pilotlight.
You will be the organisation’s finance lead, providing clarity, confidence and financial stewardship.
Working closely with the CEO, SMT and Board, you will:
- Lead the production of accurate monthly management accounts
- Maintain strong financial controls, processes and compliance
- Manage day-to-day finance operations in Xero
- Prepare cashflow forecasts, scenario models and financial insight for decision-making
- Support the annual budgeting and reforecasting process
- Oversee restricted and unrestricted income tracking
- Lead the year-end audit process and statutory reporting
- Strengthen financial workflows as we integrate new digital systems

We are looking for a strategic, creative and digitally confident leader who can:
- Reposition Pilotlight’s brand and strengthen our national visibility
- Lead the engagement and communications strategy for our 30th Anniversary campaign
- Oversee the implementation of our new CRM, digital hub and online community
- Build user-centred engagement journeys for charities, volunteers and partners
- Drive growth through targeted marketing, storytelling and digital acquisition
- Use data and insight to inform decisions and improve outcomes
- Lead a high-performing team
- Embed agile / sprint-based working across the organisation
This role is critical in helping us deliver our 2026 Operating Plan and accelerate towards our ambition to double our impact by 2030.

You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, helping to showcase the real impact of skills sharing, volunteering and partnership on charities across the UK.
You will:
- Create compelling content for social media, web, email and campaigns
- Help deliver our 30th Anniversary storytelling programme
- Produce blogs, case studies, visuals and impact stories
- Keep our website up to date and user-friendly
- Manage social channels and drive engagement
- Support internal communications across the organisation
- Use data and insight to improve content performance
