Katherine joined the British Science Association (BSA) in 2009 and became Chief Executive in 2016. In 2022, Katherine moved to become Chief Executive of the Royal Institution. Katherine holds post-graduate qualifications in Science Communication, Information Sciences, and Voluntary Sector Management. She is a Trustee for the Young Scientists’ Journal and the Enthuse Trust, and a long-standing volunteer for Guiding.
