Pilotlight is delighted to announce the appointment of Ed Mayo as its new Chief Executive.

Ed is currently Secretary General of the business network Co-operatives UK and is a respected leader and innovator in the third sector, with former roles including those of Chief Executive of the New Economics Foundation and National Consumer Council as well as Chair of the campaign Jubilee 2000 and the public participation charity Involve. He is author of 'Values: how to bring values to life in your business', (Routledge, 2016).

Ed said:

“No-one makes more of a difference to communities than the voluntary sector and yet small charities at the heart of this are under more stress than ever. I am proud to join Pilotlight, a social enterprise founded to support them, matching great causes with great business talent to the benefit of both.“

"I look forward to working with the individual and business members, the trustees and the staff team of Pilotlight, who together make up an extraordinary community of purpose."

Sally Bailey, Chair of the Trustees said:

"We want to change the world by harnessing the talent within great businesses to help address some of society’s greatest problems. I am delighted to welcome Ed as our next Chief Executive, with all his experience working with the third sector and ethical business. Ed will help Pilotlight accelerate on its mission to help make a difference to those who need it most. Join us and be part of the journey."

Ed will take up his role in the summer, replacing Gillian Murray who is stepping down after 14 years with the charity. Gillian's many achievements include growing significantly the number of charities who have benefited from Pilotlight's support, and instigating successful partnerships with leading businesses and charitable foundations.

Bruce McCombie, Head of Partnerships, will act as interim CEO in the period between Gillian leaving in April and Ed joining Pilotlight.
