The Weston Charity Awards enable charities working in the fields of Welfare, Youth and Community in the Midlands, the North of England, and Wales to become more sustainable and face the future with greater confidence. Sound a good fit for your charity? Here are the top five reasons you will not want to miss out on applying:

1. Applying is easy

You just need to answer three simple questions and you could be one of the twenty award winners, it’s that simple. The questions include a brief description of your charity's main services and beneficiaries, what difference your charity makes in tackling social disadvantage, how you think your organisation would benefit from being an award winner and working with Pilotlight. If you are shortlisted, you will be required to provide further information and documentation and attend an assessment.

2. You will get access to experienced business minds

We assemble a team of experienced business leaders (our Pilotlighters) who not only have a wealth of skills and experiences, but also have the right expertise to help you address the challenges you’re facing. What’s more, they are members of Pilotlight simply because they want to make a difference to charities like yours.

3. It is free and you'll receive £6,500 unrestricted grant funding

Not only are there no fees involved, as both the Garfield Weston Foundation and Pilotlight exist solely to support the third sector, all winners receive £6,500 to support you in getting the most out of the work you do.

4. We have excellent results

Two years after their engagement with us, our charity partners are on average reaching 36% more people and generating 40% more income. Charlotte Almond, Strategy and Business Development Manager of Staffordshire Women’s Aid, a previous winner, commented:

"We wouldn’t have got this support anywhere else. Winning the Weston Charity Awards has reinvigorated us. We were stuck in a disempowering funding cycle. We’re back in control, being proactive and moving forward."

5. Applied before? You can apply again.

Even if you have applied in the past and not been successful, you are welcome to apply again. As the Garfield Weston Foundation can only give out a limited number of awards, applications are welcomed from charities who have missed out previously.
