Community Works has been a focal point for people in various forms of need for over two decades in the market town of Thirsk, North Yorkshire. It provides a range of joined together services for both individuals and families within the surrounding area. These include a Food Bank (the only one in the local area, providing food for more than 200 families each year), Older People’s Services – providing dementia day care, respite care and befriending across the town and elsewhere, a Meals on Wheels scheme, a Community Transport Scheme, various interventions through key workers, support services for vulnerable women, mental ill health support and counselling, and its re-use store shop in Thirsk which sells donated furniture and runs various support groups during the day.
