Vital (previously known as Bradford & Airedale Mental Health Advocacy Group) is a user run mental health organisation that provides expert by experience support to people facing mental ill health or who feel vulnerable due to other factors including old age, trauma and illness. It aims to reduce judgmental attitudes, discrimination and social isolation through raising awareness and understanding of mental health, ensuring that people have a voice within the health and social care framework.

As experts by experience it recognises that everybody has mental health, everybody has their own story and it exists to ensure that voices are heard at a time when they are most vulnerable. Recognising that the ‘human’ element of illness is disappearing through targets and cuts throughout the social and healthcare framework, Vital has risen from the ashes to support individuals to have a voice.
