Money Can't Buy Live Auction Re-Cap

26 November 2009

There was an air of anticipation as Pilotlight’s ‘Money Can’t Buy’ live Auction event got underway last night at The Lincoln Centre in London.

The success of the event has given a big boost to the fundraising goal of raising £1 million over the next 3 years. Our total raised to date is just over £50,000 and climbing!

At the event, Chief Executive, Fiona Halton, welcomed those attending, and TV presenter and entrepreneur Emma Forbes introduced the new Pilotlight fundraising film – which visibly moved those in the audience. It clearly demonstrated how Pilotlight can help change the lives of thousands of people, through its work with many small charities.

11 amazing auction lots were up for grabs, and as the Sotheby’s auctioneer whipped up the excitement in the room, bids came in thick and fast. Bidding highlights included:

  • An incredible £10,000 for 2 VIP tickets to this Sundays live X-Factor final.
  • An impressive £2,400 for 2 weeks work experience at Internationally renowned department store Harvey Nichols.
  • A frantic and amusing bidding war between 2 ladies in the room, over the lot to ‘design your own shoes’. This was finally settled at a generous £1,500.

An enormous thank you to all of our hugely generous supporters, who donated these fantastic opportunities, as well as those of you who were kind enough to bid for one of the amazing prizes.

But -  please don’t forget that there is still plenty of time to place a bid on over 50 other spectacular lots.

These include:

  • Lunch with Liverpool football legend Kenny Dalglish on match day, pre-match walk on the pitch, and 2 seats in the Director’s box.
  • The opportunity for your child to become the team mascot for Saracens game against Worcester at Wembley Stadium in February 2010.
  • A weeks work experience at political weekly The Spectator magazine
  • VIP Wimbledon tickets
