Two of our current partner charities have been in the national press in the last week due to their expertise around domestic violence issues.

Rights of Women works in a number of ways to help women through the law, and their director, Emma Scott, was interviewed for an Observer newspaper article. The powerful piece explained how legal aid cuts now make it incredibly difficult for victims of domestic violence to get help and protection when threatened by an abusive partner. You can read the article here.

My Sisters Place is an independent specialist ‘One-Stop Shop’ based in Middlesbrough for women aged 16 or over who have experienced or are experiencing domestic violence. Becky Rogerson, the Chief Officer, was interviewed as part of a Newsnight investigation into overly lenient sentences of domestic violence offenders. You can see the video here, with the section featuring Becky starting at 36:55.
