Inspiring Results: Charity and Business Partnerships

This year at Pilotlight we are organising our first conference to bring together our partner charities and business members for an afternoon of focussed sessions, where delegates will learn from inspiring collaborations between the charity and business worlds.

The idea of hosting a learning conference was born out of the incredible knowledge and experience Pilotlight has gathered over ten years of harnessing the skills of business people to help charities thrive. As Pilotlight’s Chairman Graham Clempson says:“This seems a perfect opportunity to share not just our results, but the learning and impact of past and present Pilotlight projects. We hope this conference will inspire you to think about the ways charities and business can work together and provide a unique insight into what these partnerships can really achieve.”

As part of the programme, we will launch a new research report, ‘Philanthropic Journeys’, undertaken jointly with the University of Kent. Dr Beth Breeze, author of the report and Director of the Centre for Philanthropy, at the University of Kent, will present the key findings of the study, in which she explores the triggers and barriers for long-term giving and volunteering.

Philippa Charles, Director of the Garfield Weston Foundation, a trust which has been supporting charities across the UK for over 50 years, will talk about her experience partnering with Pilotlight to launch and deliver the Weston Charity Awards in the North East of England. This new partnership offers small charities a unique type of grant, which provides strategic business support as well as funding.

In addition to the key external speakers, which will include corporate partners such as Barclays, conference delegates will hear from past and present Pilotlight projects, from both the charities’ and Pilotlighters’ perspectives.

The conference will take place on the afternoon of the 17th of June at the Bulldog Trust in London and it is open to all Pilotlight business partners and charities. We will have a selection of guests including; charity representatives, corporate partners and grant funders. This will provide delegates with an excellent opportunity for networking across sectors as well as meeting Pilotlight Board members and staff.
