Horden Youth and Community Centre is a vibrant local resource in a former East Durham mining village. The centre brings over 4,500 local people together with a diverse range of social activities, training courses and clubs. Working with individuals and families whose ages range from 2 to 93, the team often say that the centre’s motto should be ‘from the cradle (almost) to the grave’! Feedback from users is that regularly spending a couple of hours with others outside their immediate circle makes them feel less isolated and more self-confident.
