In partnership with the Garfield Weston Foundation today we are launching a call for applications for the 2021 Weston Charity Awards, alongside new research showing the extreme pressures currently faced by small charities.

"The support from the Pilotlighters has given Active Fusion a clearer direction and has helped the charity secure funding from Doncaster Local Authority, Sport England, Awards for All and Children in Need."

A group of 19 frontline charities from the North of England, the Midlands and Wales have been announced as winners of the 2020 Weston Charity Awards.

"One of the biggest learnings for me from the project has been learning to step back and be part of a team, rather than trying to solve everything myself."

In a show of confidence, small charity leaders are expecting to help more people, build business relationships and address diversity issues in 2020. This is in contrast to an ongoing backdrop of change and uncertainty.

"The support over the last year has been invaluable. The sessions have helped me identify some key operational improvements and commit to implementing those changes. Improvements I’m confident will make a huge difference to our performance and ultimately benefit our beneficiaries."
